HOW IT WORKS

In the beer and beverage industries, the content of dissolved carbon dioxide (CO2) is a determining factor in the quality and taste of beer and carbonated beverages. Therefore, breweries as well as other carbonate beverages manufacturers continuously control and measure the CO2 quantities during production.
The automated measurement of CO2 with the Haffmans GMT 2.0 is based on Henry's Law, which describes the equilibrium between a gas and a liquid in a closed space.
The law states that at a constant temperature, the amount of gas dissolved in the liquid is proportional to the partial pressure of the gas above the liquid. It is, therefore, possible to measure the amount of CO2 dissolved in a liquid sample by measuring both the equilibrium pressure of CO2 above the liquid and the temperature of the liquid.
