PROCESS ENGINEERING

Process Engineering workflow overview:

  1. Finalization of the Basic Design
  2. Provision of typical documentation
  3. Production of drawings
  4. Review of draft P&IDs
  5. Production of Process Control Philosophy
  6. Review of draft layout drawings
  7. Review of draft Software Acceptance Test Protocol
  8. Review of draft Commissioning Manual
  9. Execution of Software Acceptance Test

1. Finalization of the Basic Design
The design projections, which can include the Process Flow Diagram with mass balances, are finalized at the start of the execution phase. The customer needs to provide the final project requirements and constraints. Minor changes resulting from information generated during previous phases have to be incorporated into the design at this stage.

2. Provision of typical documents
Pentair will provide typical P&IDs and typical commissioning documents, which you can use to develop a tailored and complete P&ID for the entire plant. The commissioning documents will also help to implement temporary commissioning facilities at an early stage.

3. Production of drawings
Pentair will provide both P&IDs and layout drawings from the Pentair Hardware Delivery Scope. These drawings are delivered in the Pentair standard format (AutoCAD) to facilitate incorporation into your overall drawings.

4. Review of draft P&IDs
Pentair will review your draft P&IDs for equipment that is necessary for proper plant operation, and return them with mark-ups.

5. Production of Process Control Philosophy
Pentair will provide a detailed Process Control Philosophy (PCP), which you can use to either provide information to the software engineer directly or to draft a dedicated functional design specification.

6. Review of draft layout drawings
Pentair will review your draft layout drawings for equipment that is necessary for proper plant operation, and return them with mark-ups.

7. Review of draft Software Acceptance Test Protocol
Pentair will review your draft Software Acceptance Test Protocol for equipment that is necessary for proper plant operation, and return it with mark-ups.

8. Review of draft Commissioning Manual
Pentair will review your draft Commissioning Manual for equipment that is necessary for proper plant operation, and return it with mark-ups.

9. Execution of Software Acceptance Test
During the Software Acceptance Test, the software is tested against the needed functionality as described in the Process Control Philosophy. Typically this is done in a simulation environment set up by the customer, in order to facilitate proper testing by the relevant engineers.
