Pentair X-Flow XF53 Membrane Element is a replacement for Pentair X-Flow XF40 Membrane Element.
XF53 Membrane Elements are based on hydrophilic hollow-fiber ultrafiltration membranes, composed of a PES/PVP blend. They have high mechanical and chemical strength, making them suitable for a wide range of applications. The pressurized membrane elements with inside-out configuration are the industry’s choice for the removal of bacteria, viruses, suspended solids, and colloids.

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

The core of the XF53 Membrane Element is the single-fiber, inside-out filtration process that delivers a robust solution. Mode of operation is dead-end with regular backwash (permeate only) and chemically enhanced backwash. The membrane elements are operated horizontal and can be utilized in Pentair X-Flow's Xiga Solution.

The X-Flow XF53 Membrane Elements are designed to replace the XF40, formerly known as Xiga 40, and offers a range of options to improve your existing operation or provide a cost-effective solution to replace your XF40 membrane elements. The XF53 module can be utilized in Pentair Xiga Solution.

Potable water production 
X-Flow XF53 provide superior separation performance and effective rejection of viruses and chlorine-resistant organisms such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia.

Process water production
The membrane elements offer an effective barrier to suspended solids and silt. The permeate can be used directly or, if salinity and dissolved solids are not within the required limits, the permeate can be fed to a downstream RO system.

Effluent polishing
The XF53 Membrane Elements are a reliable solution to meeting the highest standards for turbidity and microbiology. The polished effluent is ready for high- grade and unrestricted reuse applications.

Pretreatment for Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) systems
X-Flow's XF53 offer an effective barrier to suspended solids and silt. The almost total removal of suspended solids protects the SWRO from fouling.

Typical applications are the filtration of surface water, large-scale drinking and process water production and pretreatment for SWRO.
